With Twitter, you and your friends, family, and coworkers may send and receive short, frequent messages that help you keep in touch with one another. Tweets can include everything from text and links to images and videos. They will be visible to anybody who visits your profile and reads your tweets, as well as being archived in Twitter’s search function.
Another 1,200 of Elon Musk’s Twitter employee have left, putting the platform in jeopardy.
Elon Musk pleaded with Twitter’s staff in a series of emails he sent out early on a Friday.
He requested that “everyone who genuinely builds software” come to the 10th floor at 2 p.m. 17 Nov 2022 in a two-paragraph memo that was obtained by The New York Times. A heartfelt “Thank you, Elon!”
Musk wrote another email 30 minutes later in which he expressed interest in Twitter’s “tech stack,” a phrase used to describe a company’s software and related systems. Then he sent another email inviting certain individuals to Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco for a face-to-face meeting.
Three sources close to the company have confirmed that at least 1,200 full-time workers quit on Thursday. After massive layoffs in early November, Twitter’s full-time staff went from 7,500 at the end of October to roughly 3,700.
With Musk’s $44 billion purchase of Twitter last month came a period of intense transformation that has left the firm on the brink of collapse.
The billionaire has worked tirelessly to stamp his mark on the social networking site, cutting half of its staff, sacking dissenters, seeking new subscription goods, and sending a stern warning that the firm needed to get its act together or risk bankruptcy.
Now, at age 51, Musk has raised questions about whether he has gone too far. Musk offered Twitter staff till Thursday to decide whether to leave or stay, and hundreds of them quit en masse on that day.
People on Twitter started saying goodbyes and using hot topics like #TwitterMigration and #TwitterTakeover when a large number of employees decided to leave the company.
Even once the dust settles, it’s unclear who is responsible for keeping track of employees and managing other workplace systems, so headcounts are likely to fluctuate.
Because human resources personnel were unavailable, several departing workers justified their decision to cut off all communication with the firm, including email and Slack.
On Friday, Musk posted what he suggested would be a new content guideline for Twitter. He claimed that hateful tweets would no longer be pushed by the platform’s algorithms, but that they would not be removed. Several suspended accounts were also restored by him.
How Twitter can continue operations with such a drastic drop in staff in such a short amount of time is perhaps the most pressing concern at the moment.
